2018 Mercedes-Benz GLE: Refinement and performance.

Mercedes-Benz is one of the most widely recognized brands and automakers in the world. They stake their reputation on every product they put on the road. It could be argued that the GLE is one of their most important nameplates given the immense popularity of luxury utility vehicle segments. You can rest assured that Mercedes-Benz does not take the GLE lightly.

Craftsmanship, luxury and performance.

The idea behind the Mercedes-Benz GLE is the ideal blend of all aspects deemed important by consumers. Whether you are looking for capability, driving dynamics or technology features, the GLE delivers with every trim, regardless of price.

The Mercedes-Benz GLE 400 4MATIC sports a $66,100 price tag but is far from a basic vehicle. Featuring a 329-horsepower biturbo 3.0L V6, a standard 9G-TRONIC automatic and 4MATIC AWD, the 400 provides room for everyone, excellent fuel economy and high-end styling the carmaker is known for.

For $82,000, Mercedes-Benz GLE 550 4MATIC demonstrates superior power thanks to its 449-horsepower biturbo V8. Although the 550 will reach 100 km/h in only 5.1 seconds, its level of refinement and comfort are second to none.

Mercedes-Benz is working hard at developing sustainable alternative powertrains. The $83,900 GLE 550e plug-in SUV is a perfect such example as, when fully charged, its 8.8 kWh battery will enable the 550e to travel up to 30 kilometres without using a single drop of fuel. The electrification of the GLE not only improves fuel economy but has a positive impact on performance. With its biturbo 3.0L V6 and 85kW plug-in hybrid electric motor, the 550e will reach 100 km/h in 5.3 seconds.

The recently formed Mercedes-AMG transforms the GLE into unmistakingly sporty utility vehicles. The $73,900 GLE 43 is an excellent midway point between all-out performance and styling. 5.6 seconds all are it needs to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint thanks to its 385-horsepower and 384 lb.-ft. of torque biturbo 3.0L V6 engine.

When only the “most” of everything will do, the $115,500 Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S delivers on every front. It will tow, carry people and gear and it will reach 100 km/h in only 4.2 seconds with its 577-horsepower biturbo 5.5L V8 under the bonnet.
